Behind the Scenes of My Latest YouTube Video: AI, WordPress, and Late-Night Editing

I’ve just uploaded a new video to my YouTube channel where I test how well Claude Code can build a WordPress block theme and honestly, I’m surprised by how good the results were.

The video’s called Build a WordPress Theme with AI, and it follows my process of using Markdown context files inside a project folder to guide Claude through creating a full block theme with over 30 automatically generated patterns.

If you’ve seen my earlier videos, you’ll know II’ve tried this before using Cursor, it worked, but the results were basic. This time, Claude produced something much stronger. The difference really came down to context: give an AI structure and it’ll reward you with something surprisingly coherent.

But what I want to talk about here isn’t just the AI side of it. It’s the editing process because I’ve actually really enjoyed it.

The Joy (and Sleep Deprivation) of Editing

This video took a few late nights to put together. Between screen captures, voiceovers, and B-roll, I found myself refining small details long after I should’ve been asleep. But there’s something satisfying about that process, when you can feel the story of the video taking shape, and every little cut or transition starts to click into place.

Editing, for me, is where everything comes alive. I love shaping the flow: deciding when to cut from the terminal to the Site Editor, when to zoom in on a moment of discovery, or when to just let a shot breathe for a second.

Even though it’s time-consuming, it’s also the most creative part of the whole process. Writing code is logical, editing is emotional. It’s about pacing, energy, and tone. And when I finally watch it back and it feels seamless, it’s worth every bit of lost sleep lol!

What’s in the Video

In the video, I walk through the whole process from setting up the test site, activating the AI-built “Potential” theme, and exploring what Claude managed to generate headers, footers, templates, and all.

There were a few things missing, like a front-page.html template or a comments part, but that’s on me for not including it in the Markdown context. Once those were added, the theme worked really well.

Claude even produced 31 block patterns, covering everything from hero sections and pricing tables to team layouts and testimonials. I built out a front page using a mix of those patterns, tweaked the structure a bit, and the end result was surprisingly solid especially for something built entirely by AI.

Why I Love This Kind of Project

Projects like this remind me why I enjoy making content in the first place. It’s not just about showcasing what AI can do; it’s about exploring new workflows, pushing tools to their limits, and sharing the process warts and all.

I’m always trying to keep things practical and honest. If something doesn’t work, I show it. If it does, I explain why. And through editing, I get to craft that journey into something that hopefully feels both useful and watchable.

If you’ve ever wondered how to get better results from AI when building with WordPress, or you’re just curious about how Markdown context can make a massive difference, it’s worth a look.

And if you’ve tried something similar yourself, I’d love to hear how it went, drop a comment under the video and let’s compare notes.

Final Thoughts

So yes, it’s been a few late nights but I’ve genuinely enjoyed every part of it. The tinkering, the testing, the re-edits. It’s the sort of creative grind that doesn’t feel like work.

If you found the video helpful, give it a like — it really helps push it out to more people. And if you’re new to the channel, hit subscribe for more real-world WordPress experiments like this.
