Part One – Easy WooCommerce Store Setup with Full Site Editing and Gutenberg Blocks

As passionate WordPress theme and plugin developer as well as a user, I’ve created a mini series on my YouTube channel to show you just how easy WooCommerce Store Setup with Full Site Editing and Gutenberg Blocks is now and its more stable than ever! I will be using the latest RC WordPress 6.3 and WooCommerce 8 versions that will be released in August 2023, along with the latest version of the WooCommerce Blocks plugin, with these releases you’ll have everything you need to create a stunning online shop.

Here is the first video in the series, feel free to give if a thumbs up if you like it or if you have any questions to leave them on the video comments:

First things first, let’s talk about the theme. I’ll be using the Create Block Theme plugin, which not only supports full site editing but also lets you manage theme fonts. I’m not a big fan of the default serif font, so I’m going to tweak it a bit and make our store look more elegant by installing our own custom font list from the Google Fonts Library.

Installing WooCommerce and Onboarding (3:12): we need to install WooCommerce and get started with the onboarding process. WooCommerce has some awesome free features, but for now, let’s keep things simple and skip them. We’ll come back to fine-tune those options later. Trust me; it’s going to be a breeze!

WooCommerce Blocks Plugin (4:33): Now, here comes the fun part. We’re going to supercharge our customization game with the WooCommerce Blocks plugin. It offers a plethora of experimental Gutenberg blocks, like breadcrumbs and featured products. These nifty blocks give you complete control over your WooCommerce shop’s look and feel. Let’s get them installed and start customizing!

Creating a Blank Block Theme (6:15): To take full advantage of WordPress’s full site editing, we need to create a blank block theme. It’s simple, really! I’ll show you how to do it step-by-step, and we’ll be all set to unleash our creativity.

Adding Google Fonts to the Theme (6:40): No online store is complete without some eye-catching fonts. So, I’m going to add the popular Google font “Open Sans” to our theme. It’s a breeze; I promise! You’ll love how it instantly adds a touch of elegance to our store.

Preparing for Full Site Editing (7:24): Before we wrap up the first video and get ready for the exciting full site editing process, we’ll head over to the editor and check out our bare-bones boilerplate theme. Don’t worry; there’s no need for styling or alignment yet. The next video will cover that, and we’ll have a beautifully designed header and footer.

Conclusion: That’s it for this part! With these prerequisites the essentials to set up a WooCommerce store with ease, and we’re about to take things to the next level with full site editing and advanced styling. Stick around for the next video, where I’ll walk you through every step of designing your dream WooCommerce shop.
